The Challenge Haiti faces significant economic and environmental challenges, being the poorest country in Latin America and the Caribbean. Agriculture employs two-thirds of the workforce but contributes only a quarter of the GDP, with women playing a crucial role in the economy despite facing severe inequality. Additionally, Haiti suffers from one of the highest deforestation rates in the world, making sustainable agroforestry essential for restoring environmental balance and supporting economic growth.

The Solution

To address these issues, the Haiti Pollinator Agroforestry Project promotes a honey-optimized agroforestry model, developed in collaboration with local farmers and partners like Prosperity Catalyst. This initiative supports women-led beekeeping groups while fostering sustainable land use. Businesses and individuals can contribute through Ecodrive, which integrates sustainability into business operations, linking everyday actions like sales and reviews to tree-planting efforts in Haiti.
