Most of us have probably experienced brittle nails and lackluster hair, or, hair and nails that grow slowly. While proper nutrition, such as eating whole foods, and supplements like biotin can help improve your skin and nail health, we wanted to introduce you to one of our favorite supplements for overall skin, hair, nail, joint and bone health. Spoiler alert: itā€™s not collagen and is vegan-friendly!

What is BioSil?

Our buzz-worthy beauty favorite is called BioSil! This supplement contains a clinically proven ingredient known as ch-OSAĀ®. It consists of two factors: orthosilicic acid and choline. To understand what makes this so special, orthosilicic acid is a dietary form of silicon, a mineral that plays a substantial role in the creation of collagen and bone mineralization. On the other hand, choline is an essential nutrient vital to supporting healthy homocysteine levels in the body. Thus, supporting collagen levels in the body.
To elaborate, collagen is considered the major building blocks of tendons, ligaments, bones, and skin. It is the most abundant protein in your body and is often referred to as the "glue" that holds everything together. As we age, our collagen production begins to decline. Specifically, by the age of 25 we begin to lose our bodyā€™s ability to produce collagen. Many people combat this by supplementing with collagen peptides. But, for those with dietary restrictions, collagen consumption can be an issue, as collagen is mainly composed of bovine hides, chicken bones, or fish scales. BioSil offers a vegan-friendly option, is non-GMO certified, and is free of over eight common allergens. Learn more about their strict testing and standards on their website.

What are the benefits?

Person With White Nail Polish

The beauty of BioSil lies in its versatility. Anyone can benefit from its ability to support youthful-looking skin, and strengthen hair and nails. Additionally, BioSil gives the body the fuel it needs to boost its own collagen production, resulting in plump, glowing skin.
Of course, BioSil goes deeper than the dermis, and can also support healthy bones and joints. The official Biosil website states, ā€œ[BioSil] has been clinically proven to increase collagen formation in bones, significantly reduces joint discomfort, and improves the overall condition of cartilage." The star ingredient, ch-OSAĀ®, was discovered in the early 1990s. Since then, it's been used in copious amounts of clinical trials to prove its collagen-producing abilities. For more information on these clinical trials, check out their website.Ā

How can I supplement with BioSil?

BioSil has an option for everyone. Prefer a traditional capsule? Or, to consume it in liquid form? We've got both, so make sure to read the box upon purchase! They suggest different intake levels depending on your reason for supplementing with it. For example, if using for bone health, they generally suggest taking a higher amount of BioSil to see substantial results. With all things natural, itā€™s important to remember that good things take time! Noticeable results can be expected a few months into supplementation. But, with the clinical research to back it up, we strongly feel that positive results are just around the corner.
